There is no doubt that employees who are engaged at their job perform comparatively better than those who are not. It is difficult to engage at work when going through physical or mental ill-health. Even something mild such as a cold can be disturbing productivity and significantly reduces employee’s energy and focus levels. More chronic or long-term conditions such as stress are much worse in influencing employee productivity.

There are two ways in which employee productivity is affected by employee wellness programs: capability and job motivation. The increase in productivity among employees is observable from two evident characteristics of already existing health problems and improvement of health conditions during the wellness program.

The first characteristic is an increased ability to do their work as they are mentally healthier, physically healthier and more energetic because of the program implementation. In this case, it improves their capability to perform their duties due to increased energy levels, mental stability and reduced symptoms related to their condition(s). This increases their ability to handle responsibilities in line with company standards and expectations; it also improves how they interact with other team members on a daily basis due to improved communication skills and problem solving abilities among others things related to these areas of competence.

In order to increase employee productivity, it is essential for employers to invest in employee wellness programs that focus on health and well-being. The three most important factors that determine employee productivity are:

* Employee engagement

* Physical health

* Mental health

Employee engagement is the level of satisfaction a person feels while working at a particular job. It is generally measured by the extent to which employees feel they can make a difference at work and enjoy their work. Employee engagement also depends upon other factors like company culture, communication, training and supervision as well as career growth opportunities available to them. In addition to these, employee wellness programs can also enhance employee engagement by improving their physical health through nutrition counseling and fitness programs.
